Getting Started Checklist

Students Applying for Classified Admissions

The following is a guideline designed to ensure that all paperwork necessary for taking courses through the TIB Distance Education Program at Mississippi State University as a classified student are completed.

______ 1. Complete the application Online.

  • For Enrollment Site, please choose "Distance Learning"
  • For College, please choose "College of Arts and Sciences"
  • Within the online application you will write a statement of purpose and provide names and email addresses for those submitted letters of recommendation on your behalf.
    • Note: Only 2 letters of recommendation are required for this degree.

______ 2. Request two Official Transcripts from the college in which you earned your baccalaureate degree (If the college transcript reflecting your baccalaureate degree list less than 60 hours of course work, you will need to submit official transcripts from previous colleges attended in which you earned undergraduate credit towards your degree).  Request official transcripts from all colleges you attended after earning your baccalaureate degree. 

______ 3. If not paid online, Submit a $40.00 application fee.

Mail all transcripts and application fees (If not paid online) to:

______ 6. You will receive an email of acceptance when you are officially admitted into the university.  

______ 7. Review the Student Orientation Guide for important information needed to successfully complete the registration process.

______ 8. Complete the Registration process.

______ 9. Textbooks are available for ordering 2 to 3 weeks prior to classes beginning. You can order your textbooks through the MSU Bookstore.

______ 10. Visit and read the Student Resources page.
