Getting Started Checklist

Students Applying for Unclassified Admissions

Only NINE hours of course work taken as an “Unclassified Student” can be applied towards a degree program. Please see the Requirements page for additional information: http://www.distance.msstate.edu/health/require.html. All unclassified students should submit a classified application once they have reached the maximum of nine hours.  Full admission into the MS Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion Distance Program will be based up successful completion of all classified admissions requirements.

______ 1. Complete the application Online.

______ 2. Request two Official Transcripts from the college in which you earned your baccalaureate degree.  Request official transcripts from all colleges you attended after earning your baccalaureate degree. 

______ 3. Submit a $30.00 application fee.

______4. Applicants must have taken the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and attained a combined score of 800 or higher on the verbal and quantitative portions of the exam. International studenests are required a minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper based test or 173 on the computer based test..

______ 5. You will receive a letter of acceptance when you are officially admitted into the university.  

______ 6. Review the Student Orientation Guide for important information regarding student responsibilities.

______ 7. Unclassified students must register for classes by completing a Registration Form.  All forms should be faxed to Jane Maddox at 662-325-5200. 

______ 8. Textbooks are available for ordering 2 to 3 weeks prior to classes beginning. You can order your textbooks through the MSU Bookstore.

______ 9. Download required software and update browser settings.

______ 10. Visit http://MyCourses.msstate.edu and read the Student Resources.
