REQUIRED COMPUTER SETTINGS

For onCampus to effectively work with Internet Explorer, configuration settings must be applied. You must follow each of the steps below to ensure that your computer is configured properly.

1. Internet Explorer Settings

2. Enabling Cookies and JavaScript - Please make sure you get the most recent version on Javascript. You need to check this link every semester to obtain the lates update. If your computer has the latest version on javascript you will have nothing to download.

3. Set Cache to Always Reload

  • Select "Tools" then choose "Internet Options"
  • Select the "General" tab
  • Select "Settings" from Temporary Internet Files
  • Select the "Every Visit to the Page" radio button
  • Click "OK"

4. Turn Off Anonymous Login

  • Select "Tools" then choose "Internet Options"
  • Select the "Security" tab
  • Select "Custom level"
  • Scroll down to "User Authentication" settings
  • "Logon" options
  • Select the "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone" radio button
  • Click "OK"

5. Disable Pop-Up Killers

These applications work in the background while you browse the internet. When they detect a pop-up window that may be an unwanted advertisement, they automatically close the window. Unfortunately, they also inhibit MyCourses from performing properly. If you are unable to view Discussion postings, Quiz windows, and download links, then search your hard drive for any software with "pop-up" in the name and disable it. Or, if your pop-up blocker supports custom lists, include the address of your institution's MyCourses server as a valid site.

Some popular pop-up killers include:

  • Pop-Up Stopper
  • Pop-Up Defender
  • Pop-Up Zapper
