CE 6523 - Open Chan Hydraul Continuity, energy and momentum principles in open channel flow; flow resistance; uniform Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 6693 - Reliability of Structures No Description Available Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 6990 - Special Topic In CE - Sedimentation Management Sediment Management in Surface Waters. Processes by which cohesive and non-cohesive sediments are transported in overland flow and in rivers, reservoirs, estuaries and coastlines. Computation of sediment transport, deposition and erosion rates. Solutions to manage sedimentation problems at multiple scales. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 6990 - Special Topic In CE - Physical Characteristics of Rivers, Estuaries, and Coastal Zones This course provides a basic understanding of the physical processes in rivers, estuaries, and coastal zones and engineered solutions to common problems. The course will provide students with an entry level understanding of the physical problems addressed by practicing engineers concerning flow and sedimentation. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8000 - Research / Thesis Hours and credits to be arranged. Delivery Method: Face to face
CE 8533 - Hydromechanics (Prerequisite:Consent of instructor). Three hours lecture. Mechanics of incompressible unsteady, turbulent flows. Equations of motion, hydrodynamic forces on structures, introduction to turbulence. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8990 - Special Topic In CE - Environmental Hydrology Fine sediment processes in transport, deposition, and erosion by water. Fluid-particle Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8990 - Special Topic In CE - Stability of Frictional Media The course covers the longstanding issue of stability in frictional materials as distinguished from common forms of instability associated with fracture and damage. Emphasis is placed on the mathematical problems associated with material models based on Coulomb friction and the concept of material stability. Material is presented in a roughly historical sequence that highlights the interplay between numerical analysts and experimentalists and ends with an assessment of how frictional models should be used in practice. The course consists of lectures on the topic listed above and in-class critiques by students on classical papers that have been published on the problem over the past 50 years to the present. The course will also relate the theory to practical issues in geotechnical engineering. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8990 - Special Topic In CE - Analysis of Environmental Systems (Prerequisite: Consent of instructor). This course will include discussion of environmental systems from an engineering perspective such as rivers/streams, lakes and estuaries. Topics include the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the systems as related to engineering design and water quality management. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8990 - Special Topic In CE - Risk Analysis This course provides an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of risk analysis with emphasis on applications to engineering phenomena. The necessary mathematical concepts are developed in the context of these phenomena. They are then practically applied to a variety of problems that broadly span the areas within civil and environmental engineering. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
CE 8990 - Special Topic In CE - Computational Methods for Inelasticity I This course covers computational methods applied to inelastic deformations of solids; small and large deformation continuum plasticity, viscoplasticity and viscoelasticity models; with application to metals, soils, concrete, and polymers and incorporation into finite element codes. Delivery Method: Online, Internet or Web-based
