Structure of Program Course Schedule The Broadcast Meteorology Program offers 52 credit hours which lead to a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology. It also provides the education needed for the NWA Seal of Approval. Credits may also be applied towards a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University which requires 124 credit hours. These credit hours may be earned by completing all 17 BMP courses (52 credit hours) and satisfying all general education requirements. A minimum of 2.0 grade point average is also required. Some general education course work may require transfer work. Courses available to meet general education requirements can be located at http://www.distance.msstate.edu/geosciences/BMP/transfer.html. Please contact Mary Ann Dean, mary@geosci.msstate.edu, for more information. All courses are offered on the semester system. The Fall semester is from mid August to early December. The Spring semester is from early January to early May, and the Summer semester is from early June to early August. Courses are only offered at specified times. For example, a new student beginning the program may only begin in the fall semester by taking one or both courses offered. Listed below is the course schedule for the BMP. Course Materials Each of the courses requires the purchase of textbooks. You may order these online from the MSU Bookstore. Book order forms will be posted for registered students approximately six weeks before classes begin. Some instructors may require additional materials to be purchased such as rock kits and lab manuals. See the Textbooks section of this website for more information. All course materials such as exercises, assignments, study guides, exams, and lectures will be delivered via the Internet using MyCourses. MyCourses is a software program designed specifically for online learning. You may purchase the lectures for most courses in DVD format at the following link. DVD order form NOTE: It is required of all students enrolling in the BMP to have Internet access and email capability. Students will also need to download RealPlayer in order to watch streamed video.
