Welcome

Fire plays an essential role in forest management, removing undesirable hardwoods and promoting wildlife habitat.  While fire is an invaluable tool, it can also be a deadly one.  Firefighters must be trained appropriately to ensure their personal safety, as well as the safety of others.  The College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University is pleased to offer courses needed to satisfy the standards set by the Interagency Fire Program Management Team.  The college is honored to partner with federal fire management agencies to provide courses designed not only to provide employees an opportunity to advance in their careers but more importantly ensure their safety.

Working in collaboration with MSU’s Division of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education, the program consists of online courses offered by several departments at the university including forestry and geosciences.

As this is a partnership, we need your help in continuously improving the program.  Please feel free to ask questions and make suggestions on how we can improve the online courses to better fit your needs.  The College of Forest Resources is committed to providing the best academic experience for our students.

Regards,

George Hopper
